A Place to Call Home On May 8, 2012, Children’s Home Society of North Carolina (CHS) will hold its annual A Place to Call Home fundraising luncheon in Greensboro. Each year the event brings together hundreds of influential Triad citizens to raise awareness of critical community needs and to raise funding for CHS services. This year’s speaker is Kevin Campbell, founder of Family Finding—one of the agency’s most successful programs. This program finds permanent, safe, and loving adult connections for children in foster care. Kevin has been highlighted in numerous media outlets including 60 Minutes. He is a dynamic speaker and well-regarded expert on child welfare needs. At CHS, we believe that every child deserves a permanent, safe, and loving family. No one understands this better than Kevin Campbell, founder of Family Finding. Over the course of his career, Campbell witnessed the profound challenges facing children in foster care. He realized no amount of social services could take the place of family, and obsessed over how to connect children in foster care with long-lost relatives. One day, Campbell heard an NPR report about how the Red Cross reunites families separated by international conflicts and natural catastrophes. "If they could reunite families separated by wars and natural disasters, why couldn't they reunite families separated by the child welfare system?" he asked himself. He applied the technique to children living in foster care - and it worked, beautifully. On May 8, Campbell will share his vision for a revolution in the child welfare system and he will tell you more about the CHS program that is making that vision a reality. CHS asks: What would your life be like if you grew up without a family? In North Carolina, 9,000 children in foster care are doing just that. Please consider becoming part of the solution by donating today. Sponsorships: Donations: CHS would like to send out a heartfelt thanks to our wonderful 2012 A Place to Call Home Sponsors!
