Children’s
Home Society awarded $125,000 grant by the
Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust

Greensboro, N.C. – Children’s
Home Society of North Carolina is the recipient of a $125,000
grant from the Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust. The funds will
be used to expand pre- and post-adoption clinical services for
low-income children with mental health issues in Guilford and
surrounding counties.
CHS will implement the expansion of the Pre-
and Post- Adoption Clinical Services Program into 15 counties
over a three year time frame. The expansion of services will address
client needs, including children, families and child welfare agencies.
The Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust was created
in 1947 by the will of Mrs. William N. Reynolds of Winston-Salem.
Three-fourths of the Trust’s grants are designated for use
for health-related programs and services across North Carolina
and one-fourth for the poor and needy of Winston-Salem and Forsyth
County.
Children’s Home Society of North Carolina
is a state-wide agency that provides adoption and foster care
services to children and families. In 2003, CHS placed 146 children
in adoptive homes and provided 14,104 days of foster care to children.
The mission of Children’s Home Society is to promote the
right of every child to a permanent, safe and loving home. Since
1902, CHS has placed more than 13,000 children into adoptive homes.
CHS is a statewide, non-profit, non-sectarian
private adoption and foster care agency serving children in families
in North Carolina for over 100 years. CHS is licensed by the NC
Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Social Services.
It is accredited by the Council of Accreditation of Services for
Families and Children. It is a member of the Child Welfare League
of America and Children and Family Services Association of North
Carolina.
