Adoptive applicants at CHS participate in:

• A Pre-Placement Assessment, which is required by North Carolina State Law, consists of a series of interviews to assist you and the agency in deciding whether adoption is an appropriate choice for you at this time
• An FBI/SBI fingerprint criminal record check - required by Federal and State Law
• Classes to provide preparation for adoption
• Placement services

After an adoption, families receive:

• Post-placement visits and support
• On-going post adoption services 
• The CHS Supportive Post Adoption Network (SPAN) provides specialized post adoption services and resources for families needing additional support

Adoptive Preparation for Children in Foster Care:

• The Adoption Alliance program provides services to children in foster care for whom the plan is adoption. The services include life history development and therapy.
