Crabtree staff bringing a truckload of gifts for the CHS Hope for the Holidays toy drive
Crabtree Family Moving Company, a family-owned moving and storage company, spoke with Colette Pond-Odom in our Raleigh office last week to learn how they became involved with Children’s Home Society of NC and why they support us.
How did you first hear about our organization?
We were introduced to CHS in 2019 at an event the Triangle Commercial Association of Realtors was hosting. TCAR members were invited to participate in a toy drive benefitting children experiencing foster care. CHS was the beneficiary. After a further conversation, we learned of Hope for the Holiday’s massive operation and we wanted to do more!
Why did you decide to support our organization?
We were glad we could contribute gifts and play Santa at the annual holiday party, but we wanted to do more. There was a need for transporting all the Hope for the Holidays gifts from the Raleigh regional office to the Fayetteville, Wilmington, and Greenville offices. As a moving company, it was the perfect opportunity for us to give back in an area we specialize in while getting our crew involved.
The first time we walked into the conference room and were met with hundreds of red bags, it really hit home. Honestly, it kind of takes your breath away. For us, this isn’t just getting the items from point a to b. We take a lot of pride in handling each of these gift-filled bags with care. Recognizing that with each red gift bag there is a very special child.
Why do you enjoy giving to this organization?
As a family-owned company, we really value family. Supporting an organization that prioritizes our communities’ families and supporting them through all that life brings is how we want to contribute our time, talent, and treasure.
