Morning Workshop: Assisting Youth with Grief and Loss
Grief and loss can be uncomfortable subjects to address with children. However, it is important that social workers, parents, and caregivers are able to assist children with the grief process. This training will introduce participants to the effects that separation and loss can have on children and their ability to form healthy attachments. Participants will learn ways to help children manage loss in a healthy way.
Afternoon Workshop: Resilience-The Biology of Stress & The Science of Hope movie screening and discussion
Resilience is a one-hour documentary that delves into the science of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and the birth of a new movement to treat and prevent toxic stress. For those who are already familiar with this research and for those who are not, this screening will provide an opportunity to view the film that is being used in many circles as a discussion-starter about the science of toxic stress, and the steps we can all take to promote resilience and well-being in children. A discussion will follow after the screening.
