Substance Abuse Awareness and Prevention

Substance use and addiction are big topics to handle when caring for children/youth today.  It’s important that foster parents feel prepared and supported in navigating such important topics with the children/youth in their home.

This training provides the following support:

  • A general overview of trends in the use of substances by youth.
  • signs and red flags to look for when worried a child/youth may be using substances
  • ideas for how to have conversations with children/youth about substance use

This training will be facilitated by the Partnership for Substance Free Youth in Buncombe County.

April Baur, BSN, RN, NCSN

Heather Daniels, Prevention Specialist
