Substance Abuse Awareness and Prevention
Parents, please join us for an important training about substance abuse awareness and prevention. You will learn about current substance use trends in North Carolina, how substance abuse in the family affects children, how to recognize the signs of substance abuse, and strategies for prevention.
Please Register Each Participant Separately
Some important info about this required training:
This is a hard time for many families, with social distancing and cancelled events. You may be thinking “We’re in the middle of a pandemic! Why do I need a training on substance abuse?” But this is an important topic now, as always. We want to make sure you have ongoing opportunities to build your knowledge and confidence. If you have a question about whether you need to attend this training, please check with your Specialist.
Training with children in the home can be challenging:
To help make it easier, we are offering the training twice. You can choose the time that works best for your family. Or, if you are in a two-parent family, you might consider taking turns with your spouse/partner – with one parent engaging with and caring for the children while the other parent participates – and then switch for the other session. The training will also be recorded.
Because this training contains sensitive content, we ask that you please use headphones/earbuds while participating in this training. We also request that if possible, children not be present in the room during the training, particularly during the Q&A portion. Thank you in advance for being mindful of this.
