You’re invited to a Martin County School system and Children’s Home Society training collaboration day. Join us on January 17th as we discuss two important topics that are impacting North Carolina’s children and youth.
Presented by Dana Gracie and Trudy Robinson, Professional Trainers and NC Certified Parent Educators.
8:30-11:30 am Trauma and Trauma Informed Care
Trauma is common in the histories of youth involved with the child welfare system, and it can impact every area of human development- physical, mental, behavioral, social, spiritual. This introductory training on trauma will facilitate an understanding of the correlation between early brain development, childhood trauma, and behavior. Participants will gain a better understanding of the challenging behaviors they may encounter from individual youth, and the consequences of unresolved trauma for society at large. The participants will work as a group to plan implementation of trauma informed care in their agency.
Lunch on your own from 11:30-12:30
12:30-3:30 pm Understanding Difficult Behavior
Caring for a youth with a history of loss and/or trauma can present unique challenges for even the most experienced professional, parent, or caregiver. This interactive workshop will provide professionals with the information, tools, and resources needed to identify and understand difficult behaviors, to better support parents and other caregivers. Participants will apply their new skills and knowledge to case examples for practical experience.
