Monroe "Maintaining the Capacity to Care, Part 1: Compassion Fatigue"

August 7, 2018 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Free

Compassion Fatigue has been described as the cost of caring. It can be a normal consequence of a career in the helping profession. Those working with children in the child welfare system have a higher rate of burnout and compassion fatigue than staff in other helping professions and other areas of social work. They are charged with responsibility for those in their communities who are vulnerable and in crisis. This workshop examines the unique challenges faced by these professionals. It is an interactive training with an emphasis on awareness, connectedness and professional resilience. We will explore aspects of compassion fatigue, including how and why it develops, symptoms, intervention strategies, and the potential impact for your work.
