Me, You, and the Work We Do:
Session 3– Moving Toward Resilience
Embracing trauma-informed care has become an expectation for anyone involved in a helping profession. There is an urgent effort to spread an understanding of trauma that helps ensure everyone in an organization becomes trauma-informed. But what does “becoming trauma-informed” really mean?
Trauma-informed practice is an approach to care and interaction in which people recognize and respond to the impact of trauma and toxic stress on those they have contact with, including children, caregivers, service providers and society in general. This involves intentionally infusing and sustaining trauma awareness, knowledge, and skills into an organization’s culture, practices, and policies. This workshop is designed to help participants understand the impact of trauma and what it means to work in a trauma-informed and resiliency-focused way. This training is part of a series that will build upon that understanding and help guide interactions that best support others to adapt and thrive.
Session 3 covers the following:
- Neurobiology of Safety
- Experiences Wire the Brain
- Impact on Child Development
