Caring for Children Who Have Experienced Trauma (online training)
August 8, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pmFree
Caring for Children Who Have Experienced Trauma, often referred to as the “Resource Parent Curriculum,” or RPC, is a course that provides support and helpful tips and tools for parents who are raising children who are in, or have been in, the child welfare system or institutional care. This workshop will be presented in a series of seven weekly online classes.
This course will be led by CHS Training Program Supervisor Brenda deLaet with the assistance of CHS kinship caregiver Gail Mayfield. Brenda has worked in the field for 30 years, and brings her knowledge of trauma, child development, and the child welfare system. Gail brings valuable real world experience and examples from her day-to-day life with children affected by trauma. She and her husband Tracy have adopted two grandchildren, and are parenting three other relative and non-relative foster children. Gail recently completed this training in Morganton, NC and likes to say she is “learning every day!”
