May 21, 2020 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

CHS Raleigh
Support Group

Save the date for our monthly support groups!
At CHS, we don’t just recruit, train, and license foster families. We support them, too! Our goal is to equip our foster families with the tools they need to provide the best possible care for the children in their homes. Our support groups typically meet once per month, offering foster families the opportunity to connect with each other and learn how to best care for children with various needs and backgrounds. Topics include understanding and managing difficult behavior, connecting with community resources, substance abuse awareness and prevention, effects of trauma, how to build resilience in children, and so much more. We know this stuff isn’t easy, but you are not in this alone. Bonus – your participation counts toward your in-service training requirements!

Please register each participant separately.

Sensitive Content!
Because this training contains sensitive content, we ask that you please use headphones/earbuds while participating in this training. We also request that if possible, children not  be present in the room during the training.
Some important info about this required training:
This is a hard time for many families, with social distancing and cancelled events. You may be thinking “We’re in the middle of a pandemic! Why do I need a training on substance abuse?” But this is an important topic now, as always. We want to make sure you have ongoing opportunities to build your knowledge and confidence. If you have a question about whether you need to attend this training, please check with your Specialist.
Training with children in the home can be challenging:
To help make it easier, we are offering the training twice. You can choose the time that works best for your family.  Or, if you are in a two-parent family, you might consider taking turns with your spouse/partner – with one parent engaging with and caring for the children while the other parent participates – and then switch for the other session. The training will also be recorded.

The Skype link will be emailed to registered participants on Wednesday, May 20th.
