Rockingham County Schools "CHS Day of Training" Part 2
March 16, 2018 @ 8:30 am - 3:30 pmFree
Maintaining the Capacity to Care, Part 2: Building Resilience 8:30-11:30 a.m.
Those who choose to work with children and families in the child welfare system do so because of a desire to help. This interest in helping others can be an asset, and a risk factor. It is important to ensure healthy boundaries from the beginning of the client relationship, and be able to quickly recognize if lines begin to get blurred. Participants in this workshop will identify what is meant by healthy boundaries, evaluate their own strengths and needs in this area, and discuss how to maintain boundaries in their work.
Keeping it in the Family – Supporting Kinship Caregivers 12:30 – 3:00 p.m.
Participants will learn ways to support, educate, and empower relative caregivers. Participants will discuss kinship families’ strengths and needs, and explore ways to eliminate barriers to meeting those needs. The goal of this training is to enhance professionals’ ability to support kinship families toward successful permanency outcomes. It encourages a partnership approach with family members as a strategy for overcoming barriers and examines the importance of connecting families with natural and institutional supports.
