On June 10, Children’s Home Society of NC (CHS) will host its second annual Sunshine 5k & Family Festival, a family-friendly benefit event to raise awareness and help support children and families across the state with the resources they need for family well-being.
“The event is named to honor the first infant adopted through CHS and represents the commitment our organization has had to the children and families in our community for 120 years,” said Caitlin Stay, CHS Regional Director of Philanthropy. “We will celebrate the importance of family while sharing more about our mission, the needs of children and families, and ways to get involved.”
The festival will provide a fun-filled morning for the whole community and will include:
- 5K Walk/Run starting at 8:00 a.m.
- Two Kids’ 100-Yard Dashes
- Music from DJ Doc Mike and Special Performers
- Princesses and Superheroes
- Food Trucks, Local Vendors, Games, Activities, and More!
All festivities will take place at Country Park in Greensboro, with the 5K starting and finishing at the Jaycee Park parking lot located at 3802 Jaycee Park Drive.
“The Hushpuppies decided to partner with CHS because of our aligned belief in CHS’s mission,” said Nic Sturdifen, High Point Hushpuppies Team Owner. “In my fulltime day job, I am the President of Life Push, LLC, a complete human service engagement company that works with the same population in Virginia. A huge driving force behind purchasing the Hushpuppies was to create a vehicle that can help push initiatives exactly like what CHS is doing across North Carolina. It was a no brainer for us.”
